Start New Part – New Sketch in Inventor referring to Lesson 1 – Getting Started.
Create a drawing:

Exit a Sketch and Extrude 2D sketch by 4 in.:

Using Look At tool, position your view on one of the ends:

Create a sketch:

Usie a Rectangle tool with dimension 0.188:

Create void using Extrude > Cut tool:

After making a void in your solid, your model should look like this:

Create Points on a Solid Model
Start a New Sketch on the front surface:

While in the Sketch mode, using Point tool from the Ribbon, place two points as shown and exit a sketch:

Start a New Sketch on the highlighted surface:

Place another Point as shown:

Use Points to Create an Offset Work Plane
Start the Plane tool:
The Ribbon > 3D Model tab > Work Features panel > Plane tool

Click on each of the 3 points drawn earlier, the software will create New Workplane using these points:

Use the Split Command
Split the model using Split command:
The Ribbon > 3D Model tab > Modify panel > Split tool

Choose Select Tool and click on newly created Workplane:

Then you will be asked to select the face. Click on the Face, it will become highlighted in green:

Turn off Workplane visibility in the Project Browser:
