Affiliate disclosure
Some links on GoMeasure4me.com are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, I may earn a small commission. It doesn’t cost you anything extra, and it helps keep this site running.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. GoMeasure4me.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
My own book: I wrote A Year of Engaging 52 Safety Meeting Topics for a Steel Contractor, which is sold on Amazon. When I link to it, I earn money from book sales (author royalties), and the link is also an Amazon affiliate link, so I may earn an affiliate commission on top of that. I’ll always say it’s my book when I mention it.
Some links to Autodesk software go through the CJ (Commission Junction) affiliate network. If you buy a subscription through one of those links, I may earn a commission from Autodesk.
I only recommend tools and products I use myself or would actually use on my own projects. Affiliate links never decide what I write, and I’ll tell you when a product has a downside. Pages with affiliate links have a short note at the top so you know before you click.
Advertising
This site shows ads from Google AdSense, and may also show ads through Ezoic in the future. The ad networks choose which ads appear. I don’t pick them, and an ad on this site is not a recommendation from me. See the Privacy Policy to learn how ad cookies work and how to opt out of personalized ads.
Engineering and safety disclaimer
I’m a steel detailer and estimator, and I write about how I do things on my own projects. Everything on this site, including tutorials, templates, stair and railing examples, connection details, load examples, and building code notes, is for general education only. It is not engineering advice and is no substitute for a design by a licensed professional engineer.
- Building codes (IBC, ADA, local and city codes such as Chicago’s) change and are adopted differently in each place. Always check the code that applies to your project with your local building department.
- Member sizes, connections, welds, bolts, and loads shown in examples are illustrations, not designs. Have a licensed engineer design and approve anything structural before it’s fabricated or installed.
- Follow the approved, stamped drawings and the engineer of record on every job. If anything here conflicts with them, the approved drawings win.
- CNC plasma cutting, welding, and steel erection are dangerous work. Follow the equipment manufacturer’s instructions, OSHA rules, and your shop’s safety procedures, and wear proper protective equipment.
You use anything from this site at your own risk. I’m not responsible for design, fabrication, or installation errors, injuries, or losses that come from relying on it.
Software versions
Software menus and features change with every release. Some tutorials were written for older versions of Advance Steel, Revit, or Inventor, so the steps you see on your screen may be different. When in doubt, check the software maker’s official documentation.
Trademarks and no affiliation
Autodesk, Advance Steel, AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor, Navisworks, 3ds Max, ReCap, and other product and company names mentioned on this site are trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners. I use them only to describe the software I’m writing about. GoMeasure4me.com is an independent blog. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Autodesk, Inc. or any other company mentioned, apart from the affiliate programs listed above.
Opinions and accuracy
Reviews and comparisons on this site are my personal opinions based on my own experience. Prices, features, and availability change, so check the seller’s site before you buy. If you spot a mistake, email me at yes@gomeasure4me.com and I’ll fix it.
