Steel Connections – Shear Connection in Advance Steel
You can access the Shear Connection tool from the Connection Vault in the Home tab:
In this tutorial, we will make a connection between two beams:
To connect two beams using the Shear Plate tool, go to the Connection Vault -> Platform Beams and click on the Shear Plate tool:
You will be asked to select an object, and then a secondary object. The shear plate will then be created, and a dialog box will open where you can tweak the settings of this connection:
You can edit how the beam is cut in the Cuts and Stiffeners tab:

Define how you’ll cut the beam:
Define the Top Cope:
And the Bottom Cope:
Apply the Beam Stiffener if needed:
And the column stiffener:
Plate and Bolts
Define the plate layout, shape, bolts, etc. in this tab.
Welds and Marking
Define the weld location, thickness, etc. in this tab.
